Hunter Hotline October 14th, 2021



• 2021 Hunt maps are now posted to the refuge web page under the Maps link including a georeferenced version compatible with mobile apps such as Avenza maps.

• Waterfowl Season Dates


          o California

                     Youth and women’s Hunt October 16th and November 27th

          o Oregon

                     Youth and women’s Hunt October 16th and November 27th



• Pheasant Season Dates

          o California November 13th -December 26th

          o Oregon October 9th- December 31st

          o Youth Hunt (Tulelake NWR Only) December 18th

                     During youth pheasant hunt, select waterfowl only hunt areas on Tulelake NWR will be open to youth hunting after 1pm.

• Tule Lake NWR

          o Tule Lake Marsh (Sump 1A) – No water remains in Unit 1A and will remain closed to all access until further notice.

          o Sump 1B – Water levels are low and toxin levels from algal blooms are still above the lethal limit to pets. Sump 1B will remain closed to all hunting                                     until conditions improve.

          o Due to limited water availability, all space blind areas and fry’s Island units will be open to free roam hunting until conditions change.

          o The Mobility Impaired blind is located in the D13 area. This blind is available upon reserve. Call 458-232-6123 to reserve. Do not hunt within 150 yards                             of this blind unless reserved.



• Lower Klamath NWR

          o All units are dry and now water deliveries are expected at this time. Wetland units are closed to waterfowl hunting until further notice.                                                           Wetland Units include 6a, 6b and 9a.

          o Some hunt area has changed, please review the current hunt maps prior to hunting.



• Oregon Straits

          o Some units are currently being flooded in the Oregon Straits. Refer to the most current habitat map for more information.

          o From October 9th-November 30th waterfowl hunting in the Oregon straits will end at 1pm to provide sanctuary for migrating waterfowl.                                                       All special hunts including youth, women’s and veterans hunt will remain open to all day hunting.
