Friends of the Bear River Refuge

The Bear River Refuge is lucky to have an amazing Friends group...The Friends of the Bear River Refuge. This group of volunteer community members is key in sustaining the Environmental Education program on the Refuge, and was instrumental in the creation of the James V. Hansen Wildlife Education Center building, as well as our inspirational Refuge movie - WINGS OF THUNDER! We clearly could not get by without them and their continuing passion for conservation and education. This group is devoted to the promotion, appreciation, and conservation of the wildlife, birds, and habitat of the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. Officially established as a not-for-profit charitable organization in 1998, we are partners with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
