Join refuge staff and volunteers for the annual Christmas Bird Count at DeSoto and Boyer Chute National Wildlife Refuge. The Christmas Bird Count, which began over 100 years ago, is one of the oldest wildlife surveys in the world. This volunteer run count provides general trends for wintering birds in the area. Participants are split into groups to cover various transects of the refuge. All birding abilities are welcome to participate. Bird ID guides and binoculars are available for loan. Pre-registration is required by calling 712-388-4803 or emailing peter_rea@fws.gov
