Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery has a nature trail along Pennington Creek which is open to the public year-round. Each summer on the first Saturday in June, the hatchery hosts the Annual Kids’ Fishing Derby where anglers ages 6 – 12 can fish for channel catfish free of charge.
We are located approximately eight miles north of the city of Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

National fish hatcheries provide many opportunities for you to help your community and fish and wildlife by doing what you love. They partner with volunteers, youth groups, landowners, neighbors and residents of both urban and rural communities to make a lasting difference.
Services
Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery plays an important role in providing recreational fish species such as channel catfish to National Wildlife Refuges, Military Bases, and Tribal Lands. Production and stocking of paddlefish and alligator gar into public waters in three states not only provide recreational opportunities but also assist in species conservation.
Several of the species reared at the Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery have never been successfully raised in captivity and little is known about how the species live and reproduce. Hatchery staff and cooperators study the life cycle of listed Arkansas River shiners, leopard darters, alligator snapping turtles, and other imperiled species to improve our ability to support conservation efforts.
About
Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery is a 220-acre facility in south-central Oklahoma established in the 1930s to provide warm-water fish for stocking. It plays a key role in restoring imperiled species such as paddlefish, alligator gar, and Arkansas River shiners across the South-Central United States. The hatchery's water supply is protected by a conservation easement covering nearly 4,000 acres of the Pennington Creek drainage basin.
