About
White Sulphur Springs National Fish Hatchery raises fish and other aquatic species to support recreational fishing, tribal subsistence fisheries, and the recovery and restoration of imperiled species. Established in 1900, the hatchery became part of the National Broodstock Program in 1976 and now ships millions of disease-free rainbow trout eggs annually across the country. Since 1995, it has also operated a freshwater mussel conservation program to protect threatened species and improve wild populations.
