Eagles Over Canaan

The bald eagle is the national bird of the United States and is intertwined with the history of the nation. However, they remain relatively new residents of West Virginia—the first recorded nest was in 1981. Canaan Valley saw them nesting much later, in 2015. Despite their short residency, eagles hold a special connection to Canaan Valley. Join us for a presentation by Dr. Ed Michael as he shares insights into the eagles' connectedness to the wetland ecosystems and diverse habitats of Canaan Valley. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the 500th and the Canaan Valley chapter of the West Virginia Master Naturalists. This program will take place at the Visitor Center at 6pm.
