Follow the Leader

What mammal likes to run, slide and swim? It grows up to 4 feet long and can stay underwater for up to 8 minutes. It's the North American River Otter (Lontra canadensis). And it eats a variety of aquatic food such as fish, crabs, crayfish, frogs and turtles. And it sometimes eats birds, eggs, and small reptiles, amphibians and mammals. You may see river otters when you visit Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge.
