The district manages hundreds of federally owned waterfowl productions areas in Becker, Clay, Mahnomen, Norman and Polk Counties in northwest Minnesota. The district is divided into three general landscape areas: the Red River Valley floodplain, the glacial moraine/prairie pothole region, and the hardwood/coniferous forest.

Grazing Opportunities

Detroit Lakes Wetland Management District near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota has cooperative agriculture opportunities for grazing on three waterfowl production areas in Clay, Becker, and Norman counties for up to 5 years. 

To be considered, applicants must complete and submit the bid form available on the district website. Applications must be received by December 15, 2023. Applications may be submitted by email to laurel_kullerud@fws.gov or in person at Detroit Lakes Wetland Management District, 1732 North Tower Rd, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501.   

Successful applicants will be selected through an open and competitive process. Applications will be scored and ranked using objective criteria described in the application/bid form. All applicants will be notified by January 3, 2024.
