Public Review and Comment on Draft Programmatic Compatibility Determination for Rights‑of‑Way and Rights to Access

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking public review and comment on the Draft Programmatic Compatibility Determination for Rights‑of‑Way and Rights to Access for Temporary Disturbances and Minor Impacts on Conservation Easements in the Midwest Region. This draft document evaluates the compatibility of proposed activities that may cause temporary, minor disturbances while supporting necessary public infrastructure needs across conservation easements in the Midwest Region. The draft Compatibility Determination will be available for a 30‑day public comment period from June 10, 2026 to July 9, 2026. Comments, questions, or concerns can be sent to: R3Planning@fws.gov

Natural wetlands have attracted and provided wetland habitat to birds and other wildlife at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge for hundreds of years. The small pocket of diverse land and waters has been designated as a Continentally Important Bird Area.
Visitor Center Hours

The Visitor Center is normally open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, except for federal holidays.

Muscatatuck is a pocket of wildlife habitat that is easily accessible to everyone every day, at all times of the year. Look for wildlife along refuge roads, walk the trails, or take part in recreational activities like fishing, hunting, or wildlife photography. The refuge is also a great place to learn about wildlife and the natural environment. Refuge staff and volunteers enjoy helping visitors of all ages connect with nature through many events and programs held throughout the year.
