Experience Wildlife Close to Home at Refuge Day on October 14!

Get into the “wild” at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge at our free, annual Refuge Day/Go Wild In Your Park celebration for the entire family on October 14, 2017, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Visitor Center.

Discover Refuge wildlife including bison, deer, owls, hawks, black-footed ferrets (an endangered species), and more as part of National Wildlife Refuge week and Go Wild In Your Park. Join us at the Visitor Center for wildlife and nature activity booths, arts and crafts, Denver Zoo and the Urban Farm at Stapleton with live animals, face painting, and more! Nature's Educators will be presenting the Secret Life of Owls in the auditorium from 11:00 am to noon and 12:30 - 1:30 pm with live owls. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite Refuge photo and have your picture taken with our black-footed ferret mascot! All activities are geared for family fun! Best of all, the event is free and no reservations are needed!

All of the excitement doesn’t end at the Visitor Center. Take our “wildly” popular 11-mile auto Wildlife Drive so you can see more of the Refuge at your own pace in your vehicle, including driving through the bison pasture, wetlands, prairie and wooded areas.

Mark your calendar for this special day! Come experience one of the largest urban wildlife refuges in the country that more than 330 resident and migratory animals call home. For more information please call the Refuge Visitor Center at 303-289-0930.

Directions to the Refuge: The Refuge is located at 6550 Gateway Road. From I-70, exit Quebec Street going north. Turn right at Prairie Parkway/64th Avenue. Turn left at Gateway Road. Follow Gateway Road through the Refuge entrance gate. The Visitor Center is straight ahead at the crest of the hill.
