Tram Ride through Back Bay NWR to False Cape State Park

Join the Back Bay Restoration Foundation, Back Bay NWR and False Cape State Park for a wild ride! The tram tour provides access to False Cape through the Refuge with a unique opportunity to view the array of wildlife found in the area, from birds to reptiles. The trip includes a one-mile hike (round-trip) to the historic Wash Woods cemetery site. Trams are first-come, first-served. Don't forget your binoculars and camera!

 The Blue Goose Tram runs April - October. The tram leaves from Back Bay NWR (4005 Sandpiper Road) at 9:00am and returns at 1:00pm. There is only one trip each day. No reservations are necessary, the tram is first-come, first-served. We recommend arriving by 8:45am.

The tram costs $8/adults and $6/children (ages 3-12) and seniors (ages 62+). Discounts are also available for active and retired military. Tram payments can only be made in cash or check; credit cards are not accepted.

The tram is an open-air vehicle so please plan for the weather, including hats, sunscreen, bug spray, water and sturdy shoes. If wheelchair accessibility is needed please call the refuge at (757)301-7329 ext.3106 with at least two weeks advance notice to schedule a tour.

NOTE: Winter Tram Tours (November - March) have a different schedule and cost. Winter trips also require reservations.


Tram tours cost $8/adult and $6/child (3-12) or senior (62 & up). Active or retired military adults receive a $2 discount. Please bring cash or check, credit cards cannot be accepted.
