Oso Grande Wind Project Eagle Permit NEPA Documents

Tucson Electric Power Company (TEP) has requested a 30-year incidental take permit, pursuant to the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, for take of golden eagles associated with the operation of the Oso Grande Wind Energy Project (Project). The Project is a 250-megawatt, operational wind energy facility consisting of 62 turbines located on approximately 25,500 acres of land in Chaves, Lea, and Eddy counties in southeastern New Mexico. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) to analyze the environmental consequences of issuing an eagle incidental take permit, pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The Draft EA was posted for public review and comment on March 21, 2022 and was open for a 45-day comment period. The Final EA and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) are provided below.
