Severa Island foxes were spotted throughout the day at Santa Cruz Island. In 1999 it was estimated that there were fewer than 55 island foxes left on Santa Cruz Island. By 2014, due to extensive collaborative recovery efforts by multiple partners, island fox estimates on Santa Cruz Island are closer to 2500.
