Birding

At Lostwood National Wildlife Refuge

Lostwood National Wildlife Refuge is designated as a Globally Important Bird Area by the American Bird Conservancy and Audubon Society. Its extensive native prairie and wetland habitats support a remarkable diversity of birdlife, including rare grassland species such as Sprague’s pipit and Baird’s sparrow. The Refuge also hosts some of the more visible mixed‑grass prairie birds, including marbled godwits, upland sandpipers, and willets.

For more information on birding locations and species you may encounter, please refer to the Lostwood NWR Birding Guide.
