At Lostwood National Wildlife Refuge
Visitors can explore the heart of Lostwood National Wildlife Refuge by traveling the 7‑mile self‑guided auto tour route. Open from May 1 until the grouse season opener, the route offers an excellent opportunity to view wildlife and experience the rolling mixed‑grass prairie and wetland landscapes that define the Refuge. Early morning and evening typically provide the best conditions for wildlife observation.
Designated pull‑off points along the route correspond with interpretive stops, allowing visitors to safely pause, enjoy the view, and capture photos of the surrounding scenery.
