Fishing

At Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge

Anglers can expect to find crappie, sunfish, bluegill, largemouth bass and catfish in the Clarks River. However, river access is limited. Seasons and creel limits are in accordance with state regulations. Refuge fishing is a day-use-only activity.

The refuge’s Environmental Education and Recreation Area, just outside Benton, Kentucky, has an actively managed three-acre lake suitable for bank fishing and is universally accessible. There are area specific creel limits posted at this location.

Refuge annual fishing permits are required for individuals age 16 and over who are also required to have a Kentucky State fishing license and are engaged in fishing activities on the refuge. Annual fishing permits can be found at Rec Access. Please see our Public Use Regulations Brochure for more information on fishing regulations.
