Boating - non-motorized
Boats using electric motors are permitted only in the Minnesota River channel. Other non-motorized boats are allowed in the Minnesota River, East Pool, and West Pool. No other motorized boats are allowed on the Refuge. Navigation may be challenging on the western part of the Refuge due to down trees, but several miles of unobstructed river can be enjoyed both up and downstream from the public boat launch less than a mile south of Refuge headquarters.
West Pool is closed to all watercraft during the migratory waterfowl hunting season. See the Refuge Hunting and Fishing Regulations Brochure for a map with named water features.
All boats must be invasive species free.
