The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will hold a public webinar to discuss a proposed rule to update the Biological Integrity, Diversity, and Environmental Health (BIDEH) policy and codify new regulations that help guide management of national wildlife refuges.
The proposed policy update and accompanying regulations will support conservation throughout the National Wildlife Refuge System and equip wildlife refuge managers to better tackle the dual threat of climate change climate change
Climate change includes both global warming driven by human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases and the resulting large-scale shifts in weather patterns. Though there have been previous periods of climatic change, since the mid-20th century humans have had an unprecedented impact on Earth's climate system and caused change on a global scale.
Learn more about climate change and biodiversity loss. The proposal is designed to provide a consistent, transparent and science-based approach for evaluating current and future management practices on national wildlife refuges, to support the Refuge System mission and fulfill refuge purposes.
The webinar is an opportunity to learn more about the proposed rule and take part in a question-and-answer session immediately following the presentation.
