A national wildlife refuge is typically a contiguous area of land and water managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for the conservation and, where appropriate, restoration of fish, wildlife and plant resources and their habitats for the benefit of present and future generations of Americans.
Learn more about national wildlife refuge , a showcase for eagles, waterfowl, and other migratory birds; habitat for rare species of reptiles and plants; and an Important Bird Area and site on the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network.
Join our event for free and/or make a donation to support your national wildlife refuge. Walk along a portion of the auto tour road that is closed to vehicles. The route is a an out-and-back walk on level terrain, with vistas of the waterfowl pools and woodland habitat. Walk at your own page and talk to refuge staff and volunteers. First 30 participants to register receive a free T-shirt!
