We had a group of people counting so we are pretty sure about the number. We did run into a hunter who told us that last year, and years prior, there were closer to 1,000 cranes (he was baffled at the low number this year). The cranes came in quietly, without any calls at all, in groups of about 5-10. We did the count from 6-7 p.m. in fair weather conditions.
