Baltimore Oriole in flowering chokecherry

Over 230 different species of birds use the refuge each year.  Experience migration each spring and fall to see birds of all colors and sizes in their natural habitats. Species of interest include red-headed woodpeckers and bald eagles that can spend the whole year on the refuge.  Migrants like the whooping crane are on the refuge from mid-March until mid-November and golden-winged warblers return in May for the summer.

The area around the visitor center is a great place to start when looking for any of these!
