A Service employee leads a group on a hike; the attendees look through binoculars at wildlife

Our experienced volunteers give free wildlife tours by tram of the refuge trails and platforms from November through March. Informational kiosks are located at the beginning of Centennial Trail and at the welcome center. Informational signs are located throughout the refuge along all trails and trailheads, including the Centennial Trail Overlook Platform and Joe’s Impoundment overlook platform. Entry into areas posted as “Closed” is not allowed. Stay on designated trails.

Join our dedicated volunteers for a guided tour that includes both the history of Pelican Island and information about Florida’s coastal ecosystems and animals. Visitors can also participate in a self-guided iNature Trail along Centennial Trail and the boardwalk by scanning QR codes with their smartphones.
