Green Bay National Wildlife Refuge consists of Hog Island, Plum Island, Pilot Island, St. Martin Island, Rocky Island and a parcel on Detroit Island. The islands are in Lake Michigan near Washington Island between the tip of Wisconsin’s Door County Peninsula and Michigan’s Garden Peninsula. Fishing in Lake Michigan waters is allowed around all islands. However, only Plum Island is accessible for shoreline fishing, per state regulations, during daylight hours from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Boat access and mooring is allowed in designated areas only. Boats must use the designated landing area at the boathouse dock and kayak landing area on the south side of the island. Fishing is prohibited from the Plum Island dock, piers and structures.
