Dale Bumpers White River NWR contains approximately 160,000 acres of bottomland hardwood habitat within the floodplain of the lower White River. For management purposes, most of the lands within the refuge have been divided into a North Unit and a South Unit. The units are separated by Arkansas Highway 1. Refuge outlying tracts are open for hunting in accordance with state seasons and bag limits of the surrounding zone (except waterfowl hunting, which ends at noon). All users are permitted on the refuge in accordance with state and federal regulations as supplemented by the annual Public Use Brochure

Annual Public Use Permits, Quota Deer Hunt Applications and Permits must be processed online. Deer Quota Hunt applications are accepted during the entire month of August.

The refuge also co-hosts a Special Youth Modern Gun Deer Hunt and a Mobility Impaired Deer Hunt that takes place on the Cook's Lake Unit in cooperation with Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation.
