Hiking

At Rio Mora National Wildlife Refuge and Conservation Area

Visitors can hike our Juniper Nature Trail, a scenic trail that leads visitors around the red-rock canyon bluffs, short grass prairies, and piñon/juniper, oak and coniferous forests overlooking the Mora River. This hike is about 2 miles in length and can typically take the average hiker about 2 hours to complete with low to moderate difficulty. If visitors bring along a dog, we ask that they always stay on leash. We ask that all hikers always stay on trails, walking off trail is trespassing into a closed area.
