At Lostwood Wetland Management District

Lostwood Wetland Management District contains 56 Waterfowl Production Areas that support a wide variety of bird species across rolling Coteau prairie and scattered wetlands. These areas provide important habitat for grassland birds, waterfowl, and wetland‑dependent species throughout the year. Visitors may encounter sharp‑tailed grouse in upland prairie, while wetlands attract blue‑winged teal, mallards, grebes, and other water‑associated birds during spring and fall migration. The mix of grassland and wetland habitats offers excellent opportunities to observe both common and less frequently seen species in quiet, undeveloped settings.
