Birding
Refuges provide places for birds to nest, rest, feed, and breed making them world-renown for their birding opportunities, and Green River National Wildlife Refuge is no exception. Providing opportunities to see waterfowl, songbirds, wading birds, and raptors there's no shortage of feathered friends to observe on the refuge.
The forested wetland habitat on the refuge is incredibly important for forest interior songbirds. When water levels are above flood stage, large numbers of waterfowl and wading birds can be observed using the habitat long the Ohio and Green River bottoms.
Submit your bird sightings on eBird or download the app. Submitting your sightings helps inform staff, researchers, and the public about bird distribution, abundance, and habitat use.
