Fort Falls Trail
Fort Falls Hiking Trail is a short, scenic out-and-back hike. The trail descends through wooded hills to a spring-fed waterfall tucked into a cool, shaded canyon.
What first-time visitors should expect:
Distance: Roughly 1 mile round trip
Difficulty: Moderate because of the steep descent and return climb
Terrain: Stairs, dirt paths, exposed roots, and potentially muddy or slippery sections
Highlight: Fort Falls, especially attractive when surrounded by spring greenery or autumn color
Time needed: About 30–60 minutes, depending on pace and stops
Wear sturdy shoes, carry water, and use caution on wet steps. The trail is not generally suitable for wheelchairs or strollers. Wildlife may be present in the refuge, so remain on the trail, keep a safe distance from animals, and check posted notices and current conditions before hiking.
