Bicycling on the refuge is allowed year-round on improved and unimproved roads.  Bright clothing is recommended when riding on public roads.  Bicycles are not allowed on the foot trails.

Bird watching is allowed year-round throughout the open refuge lands.  Bird watchers are cautioned to note where and when hunting is allowed.  Exceptional birding opportunities are found around the lakes as well as on several of the trails. ...

Boats, canoes and kayaks are allowed in all refuge waters from March 1 through October 31 each year.  No motor size limit is in effect, but no wake is observed in all lakes.
