Grazing Opportunity at Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is seeking to permit a selected agricultural operator or operators for a Cooperative Agricultural Program at the Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge for cattle grazing for up to five years on approximately 4,000 acres (Unit 4 Grazing Site) of Monte Vista Refuge.

To be considered, applicants must complete the bid package available on the Monte Vista Refuge website or by emailing Assistant Refuge Manager Dean Lee at dean_lee@fws.gov. An onsite briefing and inspection tour will be held on December 19, 2023, at 9 a.m. at the Monte Vista Refuge Maintenance Shop at 6605 S. Hwy 15, Monte Vista, CO 81144. Attendance is optional.

Applications must be received or postmarked by 4:30 pm on December 26, 2023. Applications may be submitted by email to dean_lee@fws.gov or by mail or hand delivery to San Luis Valley Refuge Complex, 7824 El Rancho Lane, Alamosa, CO 81101. Successful applicants will be selected through an open and competitive process. All applicants will be notified by January 19, 2024.
