Washington Department of Natural Resources Proposed Aquatic Lands Habitat Conservation Plan and its Draft Environmental Impact Statement

Today the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and NOAA Fisheries West Coast Region announced the availability of the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) proposed Aquatic Lands Habitat Conservation Plan, draft Environmental Impact Statement, and draft Implementing Agreement. 

WDNR developed the proposed Habitat Conservation Plan for management of 2.6 million acres of aquatic lands. It is WDNR’s goal to manage these lands in ways that protect fish and wildlife and provide opportunities for commerce, navigation and public access.

Four public meetings will be held to inform the public about the draft EIS, the proposed Plan, and the draft IA.  The four meetings will be at the following dates, times and locations:

  • MT VERNON Tuesday, October 7, from 6:30-8:30, in Room A-125, Angst Hall, Skagit Valley College, 2405 East College Way, Mt Vernon, 98273-5821.
  • LONGVIEW   Thursday, October 9, from 6:30-8:30, in Cowlitz County PUD, 961 12th Avenue, Longview, 98632
  • TACOMA        Monday, October 13, from 6:30-8:30, in Tacoma at the Pierce County Library, 3005 112th Street E, 98446-2215
  • TRI-CITIES      Wednesday October 15, from 6:30-8:30, City of Pasco Senior Center, 1315 N 7th Avenue, Pasco, WA 99301
