The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service seeks public comment on a draft Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) for the Curletti Farming Project in Santa Barbara County, California. The draft plan outlines strategies to avoid, minimize, and mitigate impacts to the federally endangered California tiger salamander (Santa Barbara distinct population segment) and the federally threatened California red-legged frog from activities necessary for the implementation of the installation, operations, and maintenance of row crop agriculture.
Betteravia Ranches, LLC, has submitted an HCP in support of their application for an incidental take permit pursuant to section 10 of the Endangered Species Act, for impacts to federally-listed species that may occur incidental to otherwise lawful activities. The Service invites comments from the public on the application for an incidental take permit, including the draft HCP and a low-effect screening form.
A Notice of Availability will publish in the Federal Register on October 11, opening a 30-day comment period that will close on November 13. A copy of the draft HCP and draft low-effect screening form and environmental action statement is available online at http://www.fws.gov/ventura/.
Comments may be submitted by mail to Stephen P. Henry, Field Supervisor, Ventura Fish and Wildlife Office, 2493 Portola Rd, Suite B, Ventura, CA 93003 or by fax to (805) 644-3958.
