Found a Baby Bird or Injured Wildlife in the Sacramento Area?

Found a baby bird or injured animal?

We receive many calls throughout the year from concerned public who found injured or orphaned wildlife. Stone Lakes NWR is not equipped to take in or care for injured or orphaned animals. In many cases a baby bird has been found on the ground and unable to fly.  As young birds are learning to fly, they are generally on the ground for a week or two, still being watched and cared for by the parent.  The best thing you can do is put the baby bird back where you found it and watch to see if the parent comes around to feed it.  If you still need more assistance, please contact the Wildlife Care Association who is equipped and trained in caring and rehabilitating Sacramento area wildlife at 916-965-WILD(9453) .
