Construction activities affecting travel along the Bayshore Bikeway and Saturn Bike Path are scheduled to begin again in late September - early October 2023. Cyclists will experience a large number of daily dump trucks and other construction equipment associated with the coastal wetland restoration project on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge affecting both the Bayshore Bikeway and Saturn Bike Path.
Construction activity will affect travel at two locations along the Bayshore Bikeway: 990 Bay Boulevard, located approximately 400 feet north of Palomar Street in Chula Vista and the junction of Main Street, West Frontage Road, and the Bayshore Bikeway (near Swiss Park).
Saturn Bike Path
Additionally, construction activity associated with the restoration of coastal within a portion of the Otay River floodplain, which was initiated in 2022, will resume to the north and west of the temporarily relocated east/west segment of the Saturn Bike Path. The Saturn Bike Path will continue to provide access between Main Street (near Swiss Park) and Saturn Boulevard. Construction activity, including soil transport by dump trucks, will affect access to the Saturn Bike Path. Periodic use of the southern end of the Saturn Bike Path for access to the restoration site will start following the completion of construction and will be ongoing until further notice.
While construction is in progress, please adhere to all posted signage and traffic control. We encourage you to be work zone alert!
