An Aquatic Invasive Species Survey from the Lower Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office

At the Lower Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office, the Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Program has conducted annual plant and fish surveys on the Canal for over 20 years. These surveys are part of an Early Detection and Monitoring (EDM) Program providing a way to detect newly introduced species and monitor community changes. Locations near key entry points to the canal are targeted for surveillance to maximize early detection of both new introductions and range expansions. Primary sampling locations over the past 20 years have included Waterford, Marcy, Fulton, Montezuma, Rochester, and Tonawanda. To view the complete story, click here.
