Temporary Wolf Call Line Established by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
Technical Difficulty Delays Toll-Free Telephone Line for Idaho Residents

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Idaho Fish and Wildlife Office announced this afternoon that due to technical difficulty, the toll-free number established for calls related to endangered gray wolf management within the state has been delayed.

Until the line is working, Idaho residents may phone 208-378-5796 to report wolf mortality, sightings on private and public property, and to ask questions about wolf management as the transition from state to federal management of gray wolves occurs. The public will be notified when the 24-hour, toll-free line at 877-661-1908 becomes operational.

Idaho residents needing to report wolf depredation incidents on livestock or pets still must contact U.S. Department of Agriculture's Wildlife Services at 866-487-3297 or 208-378-5077.

"We apologize for this problem, and ask for the public's patience with this technical difficulty. We encourage residents to phone this local Boise number until we have the issue resolved, and we will do our best to assist citizens with their needs," said Gary Burton, Deputy Idaho State Supervisor.
