Service Proposes to Keep Fall Waterfowl Hunting Seasons Largely Uncharged
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will propose to retain most season lengths and bag limits used last year for the upcoming 2001-2002 waterfowl season, in light of spring breeding surveys conducted in the northern U.S. and Canada that found populations of breeding ducks to be down slightly from last year, but still above their historic averages. Most goose and swan populations in North America also appear to be stable or increasing, despite the mixed habitat conditions prevailing across much of the continent
