Visitors are welcome to tour the facility during normal Center hours. A touch screen slide show presentation is offered in the Administrative Building as well as information panels and pamphlets.

Center Hours

The Center is open on weekdays from 6:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Best time to visit is - 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Federal Holidays and Weekends - Closed

Driving Directions

7116 Hatchery Road, Dexter, New Mexico

From Roswell:

  • Take Highway 285 south
  • Turn off onto Hwy 2 (Dexter/Hagerman), five miles outside of Roswell
  • Follow Hwy 2 for 12 miles into Dexter, NM
  • Continue on NM 190/Shawnee Rd across the railroad tracks
  • 1/2 mile from the railroad tracks turn right into the Southwestern Native Aquatic Resources & Recovery Center


We offer guided tours to groups or individuals. The Administrative center is wheelchair accessible, however the ponds are not. Restroom facilities and a small shaded area near the main building are available.
