New Mexico Ecological Services Field Office recommendations for project proposals involving Trenching Operations
To minimize trapping of wildlife during trenching operations, the New Mexico Ecological Services Field Office recommends that
where possible, trenching and burying of cable be done concurrently. In addition, we suggest leaving the least amount of trench
open overnight and providing escape ramps for trapped wildlife. We also recommend that areas disturbed during construction be
reseeded with native vegetation to minimize erosion.
