  Recreation and Education Opportunities

Environmental Education
Environmental education is an important program on the refuge. Groups are welcome. Arrangements for programs may be made by calling the refuge office.

Permitted in most refuge waters throughout the year in accordance with state regulations. Bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass and catfish are the principal game fish species present in refuge waters

Hunting of small game (squirrel, rabbits and quail), big game (deer and turkey) and waterfowl is permitted on designated areas during designated hunts. Contact the refuge office for regulations or visit one of the refuge brochure boxes located near most refuge entrances. To apply for the Quota Deer Hunt go to: http://www.fws.gov/felsenthal/

Kiosk are placed in high traffic areas and at trail heads to provide information and leaflets for refuge regulations and maps of the hiking trails.

Wildlife Observation
Unimproved roads and ATV trails serve as popular pathways for hiking and wildlife observation which are permitted on most of the refuge throughout the year. Two interpretative trails are being developed with completion in 2003.

Refuge access is limited to improved gravel roads and is open year-round.

Entrance Fees
There are no entrance fees on Pond Creek National Wildlife Refuge .

$12.50 charged for quota permit deer hunts. No other charges to the public
