Lakes are open for fishing the last Saturday in April through October. Streams and beaver ponds are open from June 1 through October. Special regulations apply to Bayley Lake, McDowell Lake, and the Little Pend Oreille River. Bayley has a one-fish limit for part of the season, while McDowell Lake is catch and release only. Most anglers pursue rainbow, brook, brown, and cutthroat trout.

Potter's Pond attracts families with children and senior citizens since bait-fishing for trout is allowed. It includes a handicapped accessible fishing pier and toilet. Refuge streams support native redband rainbow and west-slope cutthroat trout, as well as introduced brown and brook trout.
