Interns Kayaking

Nature Walk for Health
November 1, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. — Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, CA
Take a guided nature walk on the Tidelands Trail. The 1.3-mile walk traverses endangered species habitat and offers great views of south San Francisco Bay. Meet in front of the visitor center.


Sunday Bird Walk
November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge, CA
Discover the native birds of Sweetwater Marsh on this guided birding tour led by docents from the Living Coast Discovery Center (LCDC). Walking on the refuge is generally free, but this tour requires paid admission to the LCDC. Meet at the LCDC entrance. Please park at the E street exit in Chula Vista, and take the shuttle bus to the center.  


Scout Workshop
November 8, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Necedah National Wildlife Refuge, WI
Boy Scouts who want to earn their Fish and Wildlife Management and Environmental Science merit badges are invited to sign-up for this workshop. Scouts will spend the day with wildlife and conservation professionals, taking part in a series of hands-on activities. Merit badges and blue cards not provided. Registration required: 608-565-2551.


Holiday Bazaar
November 15, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Patuxent Research Refuge, MD
Shop for wild and not-so-wild, new and gently used treasures. Find unique gifts that support the Patuxent Research Refuge and the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center.


Festival of the Cranes
November 18-23 — Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, NM
Attend the annual Festival of the Cranes – one of North America’s premier bird festivals. 2014 Festival brochure


Duck Duck Goose
November 22, 8 to 10 a.m. — Mingo National Wildlife Refuge, MO
Learn from a refuge ranger about the great variety of waterfowl that can be seen at Mingo. Then head out and spot some. Spotting scopes and binoculars will be available for use.


Assateague Island Waterfowl Weekend
November 27–30 — Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, VA
The refuge will hold an open house and offer special programs in conjunction with the festival, timed to mark the fall migration of waterfowl to the refuge.
