John Segar has been named chief of the Refuge System Fire Management Branch, based in Boise, ID. Segar started working as a wildland firefighter in 1979 while studying forest management at Virginia Tech. He came to the Service in 1992 as a zone fire management officer at Fort Niobrara/Valentine National Wildlife Refuge Complex, NE.

Scott Covington is the new Refuge System energy program coordinator. He will assist refuges with all aspects of energy development, with oil and gas issues now at the forefront. Covington began his career as a fisheries biologist in Vermont and Wyoming, later taking a position primarily addressing energy development for Wyoming.

Kim Trust is the new chief of the Branch of Wildlife Resources. She began her Service career in the environmental contaminants program in Alaska in 1993, where she provided technical assistance to refuges throughout south–central Alaska. Most recently, she coordinated non–game and avian health and disease programs in the Division of Migratory Bird Management.
