Evenings at Forsythe: A History of Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. From its humble beginnings as Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge in 1939, Forsythe has grown to be a jewel of the Atlantic flyway, providing over 47,000 acres of valuable habitat for American black ducks, Atlantic brant, piping plovers, and many other species.
