||Kicking off National Wildlife Refuge Week, Wild Things is among the largest refuge events nationwide. The annual open house of the Southeast Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges held at the headquarters in Lacombe, LA, will be celebrating its 16th year this October!
A totally free event, Wild Things allows people of all ages to connect with the great wild resources of our area, learn new skills, make new friends, and get involved in preserving our precious natural heritage. The backdrop is the beautiful 110-acre Bayou Lacombe Centre, headquarters of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Southeast Louisiana Refuges offices. Its woods, lawns, trails, and gardens, all bordered by scenic Bayou Lacombe.
Last year we welcomed over 5,000 visitors to the Southeast Louisiana National Wildlife Refuge Complex. With over 40 guest exhibitors the day features fun and educational activities designed to keep the whole family active and outdoors all day.
