||Public Information Session: Roger Tory Peterson Unit of the Refuge in Old Lyme
The US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Friends of Roger Tory Peterson will discuss management and potential recreational activities at the Old Lyme property that belonged to the late ornithologist, author and artist Roger Tory Peterson. The 56 acre natural area along Neck Road comprises most of the former Peterson land, and was recently acquired by the Federal Government to be incorporated into the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge.
Staff will discuss nature trails, a visitor contact station and other ideas that have been proposed thus far. The public will be given an opportunity to ask questions about what may happen at the property and to give ideas or raise concerns. At the end of the meeting, the Friends of Roger Tory Peterson steering committee will discuss the formation of this new group and hold a brief sign-up session for interested individuals.
