Seeking Public Input

Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge is planning to update the hunt plan, which will include opening additional areas to archery white-tailed deer hunting, bowfishing, waterfowl, wild turkey and adding feral hog hunting for incidental harvest during all controlled hunts held on the Refuge. The public is being invited to provide information that should be considered in updating the hunt plan.

The purpose of the proposed hunt plan is to provide quality hunting opportunities for white-tailed deer, bowfishing, waterfowl and wild turkey and to allow the incidental harvest of feral hogs. The Refuge also wants to prevent further introduction and spread of pest species (feral hogs) on refuge lands, and to reduce/prevent further habitat degradation.

Comments collected during this period will be incorporated to the extent practicable. The draft hunt plan documents, once completed, will also be provided to the public for further review and comment.

The public is encouraged to provide input by writing to: Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge, 11766 S. Refuge Road, Tishomingo OK 73460; or may e-mail rick_cantu@fws.gov. *Please put “Public Input - Hunting” in the subject line of the email.

Comments will be accepted until September 20, 2018.
