Comprehensive Conservation Planning

CCP

The purpose of a comprehensive conservation plan (CCP) is to guide refuge management over the next 15 years. The plan includes goals, objectives, and strategies for refuge programs, and details the combination of actions we will implement to protect species, manage habitats, and support compatible, public recreational and other uses.

Announcing the release of the Final CCP/EIS

Status of Final Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)

We are pleased to announce the release of the final comprehensive conservation plan and the environmental impact statement (final CCP/EIS) for the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge.

The final CCP/EIS is now available for a 30 day review period (until January 17, 2017) giving individuals, organizations, and other stakeholders that commented on the draft CCP/EIS the opportunity to review our responses to their comments and the changes made to the final plan. A summary of the comments we received, and our responses to them, are included as appendix O in the final plan.

Unlike the comment period on the draft CCP/EIS, we will not be holding any public meetings. To see a summary of the modifications made to the final documents please refer to our latest newsletter.

Next Steps

At the close of the 30-day review, the Service's Northeast Regional Director will determine if the final CCP/EIS is adequate to comply withe the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. Our Regional Director will then select an alternative to implement as the final CCP and document their decision in a Record of Decision (ROD). We will announce the ROD's availability in the Federal Register and post it on this website.
