Sora (Porzana carolina) are relatively abundant, small, secretive marshbirds that migrate through and breed within the area. This species utilizes wet meadows and shallow wetlands with emergent vegetation available in the Prairie Pothole region. They migrate through the area in the mid to late-spring and back in early fall. Abundant breeding can be observed in the area dependent upon late spring wetland conditions.
