Canada Goose

Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) can be found in a variety of wetland and agricultural habitats in the area. The species will migrate through the area in the early spring and late fall, usually pushing the “iceline”. They are a hardy species that will migrate into the Prairie Pothole Region before the lakes and ponds melt for the spring and stay until they start freezing up in the fall. Breeding occurs in high densities across the state but in lower densities at this time in the direct area.
